PTG was recently selected by Meals on Wheels (MOW) for IT infrastructure support services. Through an IT services agreement, PTG made several immediate improvements to upgrade the MOW server, telephone system and PC applications. Anti-virus and data back-up tools were also implemented to preserve critical systems and data integrity. Additionally, PTG supplied recommendations to address future IT equipment needs and required systems. MOW staff members now use common business application versions that provide consistency while working with documents and files within the organization. Equipment upgrades and connectivity improvements have led to efficiency gains and a reliable IT infrastructure. The services agreement provides MOW with access to PTG for any technical needs regardless of criticality. Immediate assistance is delivered through onsite, online, email or telephone support. “We’ve never had this kind of support or proactive planning,” says Liz Seman, Executive Director for Meals on Wheels. “PTG has helped us think long-term about our technical needs. They definitely know what is needed and why, which is one of their obvious strengths. They are not just a resource – we consider them our friends. PTG treats us well and our entire staff is comfortable with them. It’s obvious they want us to be successful and they do everything possible to ensure our needs are met.”
Meals On Wheels (MOW) is a home-delivered hot meal service for persons who are unable to prepare their own food, primarily the frail elderly who are confined to their homes. Program clients are isolated due to physical immobility or home location, and they are incapacitated to the extent that food preparation is impossible. The organization relies on volunteers and funding entirely by gifts from individuals, churches, civic groups, and businesses. More than 1,400 community volunteers are counted on to meet the demands of delivering an average of 1,500 meals per day. For more information, visit www.mealsonwheelsgreenville.org.
